CHARGERS RB AUSTIN EKELER, PATRIOTS DB KYLE DUGGER &

BROWNS P COREY BOJORQUEZ NAMED AFC PLAYERS OF WEEK 17

Running back AUSTIN EKELER of the Los Angeles Chargers, defensive back KYLE DUGGER of the New England Patriots and punter COREY BOJORQUEZ of the Cleveland Browns are the AFC Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for games played in Week 17.

OFFENSE: RB AUSTIN EKELER, LOS ANGELES CHARGERS

  • Ekeler recorded 161 scrimmage yards (122 rushing, 39 receiving), the most in the AFC in Week 17, and two rushing touchdowns in the Chargers 31-10 win over the Los Angeles Rams. Ekeler leads the NFL with 18 touchdowns (13 rushing, five receiving) this season.
  • This is the first Offensive Player of the Week award for Ekeler and he becomes the first Chargers running back to earn the honor since Melvin Gordon (Week 5, 2017).
  • He is the first player from Western Colorado University to ever win a Player of the Week award.

DEFENSE: DB KYLE DUGGER, NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

  • Dugger recorded five tackles, two passes defensed and a 39-yard interception-return touchdown in New England’s 23-21 victory over Miami. He leads the league with three defensive touchdowns this season.
  • This is the first-career Defensive Player of the Week award for Dugger. He is the third Patriot to earn Defensive Player of the Week this season, joining linebacker Matthew Judon (Week 5) and Josh Uche (Week 14).
  • Dugger is the first player from Lenoir-Rhyne University to earn a Player of the Week award.

SPECIAL TEAMS: P COREY BOJORQUEZ, CLEVELAND BROWNS

  • Bojorquez recorded four punts in the Browns’ 24-10 win over Washington, with an average of 46.8 yards (43.0 net). He pinned two inside the 20-yard line and had a 64-yard punt, the longest in the league in Week 17.
  • This is Bojorquez’s first-career Special Teams Player of the Week award and he becomes the first Browns punter to earn the honor since Jamie Gillan (Week 2, 2019).
  • Bojorquez becomes the third former New Mexico player to ever win a Special Teams Player of the Week award, joining Brian Urlacher (Week 15, 2001) and Jason Sanders (four-time winner).
