New Restaurant comes to Hollywood

From David Volz

Lara and Ty Orlanis have recently announced the opening of their new Romanian/Italian restaurant, Villa Romana, at 1909 Hollywood Boulevard, featuring a mix of contemporary and traditional styles of Italian and Romanian food.

Hollywood Lakes residents for over a decade, Romanian-born Lara and American-born Ty, along with their third partner, Romanian entrepreneur Rodica Barbu, are committed to making a difference in Hollywood.

“We’ve been living and investing in Hollywood since 2005, and we want to help the city continue to expand and prosper,” explained Lara. “Especially because we are residents, we are eager to work with the City to motivate other people to invest in Hollywood.”

In addition to serving lunch and dinner seven days a week, Orlanis said the venue is available for all types of private parties and corporate events for up to 240 people, and she’s already begun a full slate of special events every week, including Tuesday karaoke and Ladies’ Nights, Wednesday Wine specials, and Weekend music performances and dance nights.

Among the highlights from the Italian menu are a beef carpaccio ($14.95), a 16 oz. New York Angus strip Steak ($26.95) and a Chef’s Pasta Special every Thursday night (prices vary).

Romanian specialties include Mititei, a traditional dish of mincemeat rolls, made from beef and served with fries and mustard ($17.95) and Sarmalute in Foi de Varza, a prime mix of minced pork meat, seasoned and rolled in a large white cabbage leaf, then simmered in vegetable stock with herbs, served with polenta and sour cream ($15.95).

There is also a full bar, plus a bar specials menu, and desserts.

Villa Romana is open seven days a week from noon to midnight.
