Mykhailenko Named C-USA Offensive Player of the Week

BOCA RATON, Fla. – (Sept. 30, 2019) – Ivan Mykhailenko of the Florida Atlantic University men’s soccer team has been selected as the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday. This is the first honor of its kind for the junior.

Mykhailenko continues to lead the Owls on the offensive side of the ball after recording five points in FAU’s 3-1 victory over Florida Gulf Coast Wednesday night. The Kyiv, Ukraine native scored two goals and tallied an assist, having the most points scored by an Owl since 2014. Mykhailenko scored in the 12th and 28th minute of the game and set up the perfect shot off a header in the second half.

The Owls are 3-3-0 and are off to their best start since 2013. Mykhailenko also leads the team in several offensive categories, including goals (4), points (10), shots (12) and shooting percentage (.333%), and has scored or assisted in all but one goal this season.

The junior is the first men’s soccer player since 2013 to receive a nod for offensive player of the week, which was the first season the Owls joined C-USA.

FAU will head to Orlando, Florida tomorrow to take on No. 12 UCF at 6 p.m.
