Lynn Women’s Golf Places Fourth at Jupiter Women’s Invitational

Jupiter, Fla. – Lynn University’s women’s golf team shot the lowest round of the day to finish fourth at the Jupiter Women’s Invitational.  Helen Kreuzer and Matilda Wahren both ended in the top-10 in a field primarily made up of NCA Division I institutions.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

·         Lynn jumped up three spots to finish fourth after posting a 296 for a 54-hole total of 896.  Florida International (876) took top honors with Florida Gulf Coast (884) and Georgia Southern (894) were second and third.  The Fighting Knights finished ahead of I-95 rival Florida Atlantic (901) and Nova Southeastern (904).

·         Kreuzer shot under par for the second consecutive round, posting a two-under 69 to tie for the lowest round of the day.  Her 215 total (79-67-69) tied her for fourth and was three shots off the winner, Agueda Cortilla-Mas from FIU.

·         Wahren carded an even par 71 with four birdies and four pars.  Her 219 tied her four seventh.

·         Honor Keilty had her best day on the course, shooting a four-over 75.  She tied for 28th with a 231 total.

·         Amber Lee Svendsen ended play with a 233 while Camila Ugalde Garcia

BEYOND THE SCORECARD:

·         This is the first time in Wahren’s career she has logged three consecutive top-10 finishes.

·         Keilty’s 75 is a new career-best 18-hole score.

·         Kreuzer moved into a tie for 10th place in program history with her 14th career top-10 finish.

·         Kreuzer was the only golfer in the field to card two rounds of 69 or better. 

·         This marks the second time in program history Lynn has had two golfers open the year with three consecutive top-10 finishes.  Last year Kreuzer and Kristina Ortiz accomplished that feat. 

·         Lynn was the top finisher among the non-Division I institutions (Nova Southeastern and Keiser).
