Lynn Men’s Tennis Sends a Pair of Doubles Teams to the Sailfish Invite Finals

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – It was the second day of the Sailfish Invite for Lynn University Men’s Tennis and they continued their success from the opening day. The No. 1 doubles team of Lucca Baptista and Gabriel Hocevar along with the No. 2 team of Robin Calais and Nicholas Cabrera both advanced to Sunday’s championship match.

DOUBLES DRAW:

#1 Doubles Flight

  • Baptista and Hocevar moved on to the title match by defeating Aurel Ciocanu and Willem Van den Akker 8-4. They will take on Alejandro Ibanez and Carlos Gomez from Barry University for the championship.

#2 Doubles Flight

  • Calais and Cabrera took care of the Rollins team 9-8 and will get ready for Erik Carlstern and Rodolfo Hasegawa from Palm Beach Atlantic in the finals.

#3 Doubles Flight

  • Adam Lunding Johansson and Giovanni Aravjo didn’t play on Saturday and will play for fifth place on Sunday against Rollins.

SINGLES DRAW:

#1 Singles Flight

  • After dropping his opening match on Friday, Baptista will play for fifth place against Atakan Gezer of Rollins after beating Brandon Pham of Florida Southern on Saturday 6-2, 6-3.

#2 Singles Flight

  • Calais won his opening match on Friday but wasn’t able to advance past Alessandro Giuliato of Barry and he will play for third place on Sunday against Philipp Hoffman of PBA.

#3 Singles Flight

  • It is a similar story for Hocevar who will also play for third place after he dropped his Saturday match to Ignacio Forcano of Barry. He will look to rebound against Valentin Hertweck of Florida Southern.

#4 Singles Flight

  • Cabrera beat Ricardo Ferraris of Keiser and will play for fifth place against Miro Cvjetann of Florida Southern. He dropped his opening match, 6-3, 3-6, 10-6.

#5 Singles Flight

  • After winning his opening match 6-2, 6-4 Araujo wasn’t able to get by Carlstern of PBA on Saturday. He will play for third place Sunday vs. Roberto Binaghi, also of PBA.

#6 Singles Flight

  • Johanssen wasn’t able to get by Chase Martin of Florida Southern and will play for third place against Danielson of Rollins. He did win his match on Friday 7-5, 6-2.
