Lynn Baseball’s Erel Set to Compete for Team Israel in 2020 Olympic Qualifying

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University baseball sophomore Tal Erel will play for Team Israel in the World Baseball/Softball Confederation’s (WBSC) Europe/Africa 2020 Olympic Qualifier, which begins on Wednesday, Sept. 18 in Italy.

Erel played and started in two games at catcher for Team Israel in the European Championships, helping the squad to a 5-2 record, which earned it a berth in the Europe/Africa Qualifier for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

Team Israel’s first contest is Wednesday, Sept. 18, when it takes on Team Spain in Bologna, Italy. Israel will face off with Team Netherlands, Team Italy, Team Czech Republic and Team South Africa in order with its final game on Sunday, Sept. 22. 

The top National Team in the tournament final standings will gain a berth to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
