Jaguars vs. Colts Postgame Quotes: Colts C Ryan Kelly

(On the Colts’ offensive line being healthy all season) “Obviously, it’s been a first for me since I’ve been here. It’s been a first in the Colts’ history since 2000. It’s a big deal to have everybody healthy, for the most part, playing all the snaps together. It just gives continuity, it raises that level. It raises Jacoby’s level of comfort, and the running backs’ as well.

(On the health of the Colts’ offensive line helping the rest of the offense stay injury-free and effective) “Obviously, that’s priority number one in a tough game, where 100 percent, it’s injury-prone. I think that’s huge. Having a new offensive line coach step in has been a big adjustment as well; that’s two years in a row that I’ve had a new guy. I think that having all five guys playing together has really helped that process, made us play more efficient, play better. There are some certain schemes that we’ve had to overcome that were new to us, but the tenacity of all five of us and how close we’ve become this season really just guides the rest of the offense.”

(On if the offensive line’s goal was for RB Marlon Mack to reach 1,000 rushing yards) “Well Frank (Reich) said at the beginning of the season that 2,000 [rushing] yards, that’s what we’re aiming for, rushing yards for the season. That’s really where you start getting into the numbers, trying to balance out your pass game with the run game. We’re really trying to be an elite run game up front, and I give a lot of credit to the outside guys, as well — wide receivers, tight ends — everybody really contributed to helping that cause, to helping to get the ball moving. Some weeks were up, some weeks were down, as far as the run game goes, but we just kept pushing through, kept moving and kept playing well.”

(On when he evaluates the 2019 season before moving forward to 2020) “Probably tomorrow, honestly. That was my first realization in the NFL, was my rookie year, after the season anyway, I didn’t see you guys for like four months. That’s kind of the way it goes, man. You’re here, you’re paid to do a job, and we all love each other. Everybody wants to be here all the time, but guys have families, guys have stuff going on, so I don’t know if I’ll even watch the film, but you, as a collective unit, take away bits and pieces of the season and what we can do next year to get better.”
