Jaguars Sign Wide Receiver Chris Conley

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed fifth-year WR Chris Conley as an unrestricted free agent, the club announced today.

“This is a tremendous opportunity,” Conley said. “Playing with someone you know [in Nick Foles] is one thing, but seeing the talent that we have here in Jacksonville on defense and the talent we have on offense – it’s huge.”

Conley, 6-3, 205, was originally selected by Kansas City in the third round (76th overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft and has appeared in 53 career games with 34 starts. For his career, Conley has totaled 104 receptions for 1,238 yards (11.9 rec. avg.) and six TDs. In 2018, Conley played in all 16 games for the third time in his career and started a career-high 13 games, catching 32 passes for 334 yards (10.4 rec. avg.) and a career-high five TDs. Conley had a career day on Nov. 19, 2018 against the Los Angeles Rams, hauling in a career-high seven catches for 74 yards and two TDs, the first multi-TD game of his career. He earned a starting WR role with in 2017 and started the first five games of the season and caught 11 passes for 175 yards (career-high 15.9 rec. avg.) before being placed on the team’s reserve/injured list with an Achilles injury. In 2016, Conley played in all 16 games with 11 starts and posted career highs in receptions (44) and receiving yards (530). As a rookie in 2015, Conley started five of 16 games and caught 17 passes for 199 yards (11.7 rec. avg.) and one TD.

Conley played four seasons at the University of Georgia under then-Head Coach Mark Richt and totaled 76 receptions for 1,938 yards (17.0) and 20 TDs. As a senior in 2014, Conley posted career highs in receiving yards (657), receiving avg. (18.3) and receiving TDs (eight).  Conley holds the record at the NFL combine for the highest vertical leap by a WR at 45 inches, which is tied with former University of Wisconsin WR Chris Chambersin 2001.

A native of Dallas, Ga., Conley was born in Adana, Turkey, as his father served in the United States Air Force. Conley attended North Paulding High School where he began playing football during his freshman. Conley also exceled off the field, earning all-state selection as a member of the chorus.
