Jaguars Add Davis, MacCracken, Hughes To Personnel Staff

JACKSONVILLE The Jacksonville Jaguars announced today that Senior Personnel Executive Michael Davis, Director of Roster Management Trip MacCracken and Player Personnel Coordinator Drew Hughes have joined the team’s personnel staff. The three will assist General Manager Trent Baalke.

“Mike, Trip, and Drew will be key contributors to our personnel department,” said Baalke.  “Mike and Trip bring 45 years of combined experience in the NFL and Drew has over 8 years of experience directing the recruiting efforts at Power 5 universities.  Mike and I worked together for the New York Jets organization from 1998-2000.  He has a proven track record as a talent evaluator and will focus his attention on the evaluation and assessment of college prospects.”

“Trip has spent 18 years in the NFL as a football administrator, salary cap expert, and lead contract negotiator.  He most recently gained extensive knowledge of the player evaluation process while serving as the Director of Player Personnel for the XFL’s New York Guardians.  He will be involved in every aspect of player acquisition and player retention, with key oversight of the salary cap, contract negotiations, and roster management.”

“As a recruiting coordinator for three Southeastern Conference schools Drew has extensive knowledge of many of the top college prospects in the country and that knowledge will be important in the assessment and evaluation of prospects in preparation for the NFL Draft.  In addition, he will coordinate the workflow within the collegiate and pro personnel departments and assist in all areas of the personnel evaluation process.”

Davis joins the Jaguars after spending five seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs as personnel executive. While in Kansas City he oversaw the scouting of top collegiate prospects and assisted in pro personnel operations. Davis joined the Chiefs after three seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles as the Midwest area scout (2013-14) and personnel executive in 2015. Prior to joining the Eagles, he spent 16 seasons with the New York Jets as an area scout (1997-2004) and national scout (2005-07) before being promoted to assistant director of college scouting (2008-12). Davis entered the NFL ranks as part of the NFL’s Minority Internship Program during Washington’s training camp in 1996.

Davis was a CIAA All-America wide receiver at Virginia State University, where he returned after graduation to coach the wide receivers and return specialists and served as the recruiting coordinator and liaison to professional teams. He was inducted into Virginia State’s Athletic Hall of Fame on June 6, 1997. Davis and his wife, Pamela, have two daughters, Kamryn and Mia, and one son, Michael.

MacCracken enters his 20th season in the NFL, last serving in the league from 2010-17 as the director of football administration for the Kansas City Chiefs. Most recently he served as the director of player personnel for the XFL’s New York Guardians from 2019-20. Prior to his time in Kansas City, he was the salary cap manager from 1999-2009 for the Cleveland Browns, where his duties included contract negotiations in addition to other responsibilities in football operations. Prior to his time in the NFL, MacCracken completed an internship at the NFL Management Council in 1998.

The Gates Mills, Ohio native earned a degree from the Duke University School of Law in 1999 after graduating cum laude from Hamilton College in New York.

Hughes most recently served as the director of player personnel with the University of South Carolina in 2020. Previously he managed the recruiting efforts at the University of Tennessee and was the director of player personnel at Florida from 2014-17. Hughes held similar roles at N.C. State in 2013 and Central Florida in 2012. He also served as a recruiting specialist at Alabama from 2007-11. Since 2012, Hughes has helped his teams acquire 30 NFL Draft picks, including 12 in the 2018 draft.

The Montgomery, Ala. native graduated from the University of Alabama in 2011. He and his wife, Rebekah, have one son, Rhett.
