What Coach Tony Amato Said:
Thoughts on today’s match:
“I thought we played well enough to win the game. We had double digit shots and their keeper had six saves. It really wasn’t a cohesion thing. I thought we did well to find feet, and then create opportunities. There have been some games earlier in the year where we haven’t been able to create enough chances. I thought today we did. It was really about the final product in terms of finishing some of those chances and really executing in those moments. That’s really the next step for us.

“Thought we did the tough stuff well as they make it difficult in terms of their long service. They put many balls in the box with the long throws and we dealt with that really well. They have a really good all-conference player [Channing Foster] who finished a great chance and credit to her for doing that. But I thought we played well enough to combat some of that and win the game.

“I thought it was a total team performance today. Our backs and midfield did a really good job of limiting what they do in terms of winning first and second balls because they drive so many balls forward. We dealt with that as a team really well as we picked up second balls. Nicole [Vernis] scored a goal that was offsides but she was getting active and creating chances. Our forwards were getting in front of goal and getting in the box and so I think there was a lot of stuff there we can take from the game. We’ll break down the film and build off that for this week.” – Florida Head Coach Tony Amato
