Fort Lauderdale has a new police chief and Taravella Drama Club

Members of the Taravella High School Drama Club are getting ready for a big season. On October 6,7, and 8, the club will perform Xanadu. “We are working hard to put on a great show. All of us love to perform and be a part of the club,” said Fallon Collins, president of the Drama Club. She will play a lead role in Xanadu.
This will be followed by the show It’s Not You on November 10 and Working on February 3, 4 and 5.
Members of the Club participated in a garage and craft show to raise support for the organization. They enjoyed the chance to spend time together. 
Fort Lauderdale has a new police chief

From David VolzLarry Scirotto was sworn in as the police chief for the City of Fort Lauderdale in ceremony at First Baptist Fort Lauderdale.Chief Scirotto was selected to lead the 700-plus member department after an extensive nationwide search. “Chief Scirotto was selected because of his exceptional experience, leadership and character,” City Manager Chris Lagerbloom said. Scirotto is a 23-year law enforcement veteran, previously serving the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police. He was that department’s youngest assistant chief, with extensive assignments in administration, patrol and investigations. “He brings a fresh perspective to our diverse community and will help write the next chapter in our great agency’s book.”
