Fort Lauderdale Commission accepts bid from Boring for underground tunnel

The Fort Lauderdale Commission accepted a bid from the Boring Company to build an underground tunnel from downtown to State Road AIA. Other companies who want  to bid on the project can do so within 45 days.

Mayor Dean Trantalis has said that the tunnel will be an innovative way to deal with traffic congestion downtown. He also said the project has some milestones to meet before it can actually go forward. He believes it needs to help solve severe traffic problems in Fort Lauderdale. Boring Company leaders have said they can complete the tunnel for about $10 million to $12 million a mile for between $60 million to $72 million.
