Florida Panthers Interim Head Coach Andrew Brunette Named Head Coach of Atlantic Division All-Star Team at 2022 NHL All-Star Weekend

SUNRISE, Fla. – The National Hockey League announced today that Florida Panthers Interim Head Coach Andrew Brunette will serve as the Head Coach for the Atlantic Division All-Star Team at the 2022 NHL All-Star Weekend in Las Vegas, Nev., from Feb. 4-5. 
 
Under the All-Star selection process, the head coach of the team with the highest points percentage (points earned divided by total possible points) in each of the four divisions through games of Monday, Jan. 10 – season – will guide the respective All-Star rosters. 
 
Brunette, 48, was named Interim Head Coach of the Panthers on Oct. 29, 2021. Since Oct. 29, the Panthers own a 16-7-5 record and have scored the third-most goals of any NHL team (105). On home ice under Brunette, Florida has posted a 13-3-0 record, ranking second among NHL clubs with 70 goals scored at home during the duration of his tenure. 
 
The Panthers are currently tied atop the League standings with 51 points (23-7-5), requiring the second-fewest games played (35) to surpass the 50-point mark in franchise history (34 GP, 1995-96).  The Panthers lead all clubs in goals scored (95) and shots on goal (1,048) at five-on-five, and average the most shots on goal per game (36.9).

Prior to joining the Panthers, the native of Sudbury, Ontario spent seven seasons with the Minnesota Wild organization serving in multiple different capacities including Director of Player Personnel, Assistant General Manager, Assistant Coach and Special Assistant to the General Manager. 

Brunette was selected by the Washington Capitals in the seventh round (174th overall) of the 1993 NHL Draft. He went on to play for Washington (1995-96 to 1997-98), the Nashville Predators (1998-99), Atlanta Thrashers (1999-00 to 2000-01), Minnesota Wild (2001-02 to 2003-04, 2008-09 to 2010-11), Colorado Avalanche (2005-06 to 2007-08), and Chicago Blackhawks (2011-12). Brunette announced his retirement as a player following the 2011-12 season, after recording 733 points (268-465-733) over career 1,110 NHL games. 
 
The 2022 NHL All-Star Weekend will take place on at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev., from Feb. 4-5. The 2022 NHL All-Star Skills Competition will begin at 7:30 P.M. (ET) on Feb. 4, and the 2022 NHL All-Star Game will begin at 3 P.M. (ET) on Feb. 5.
