BOCA RATON, Fla. – (Sept. 30, 2019) – Florida Atlantic University middle blocker Zuri Smith has been named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week.
Smith was an imposing presence in the Owls’ 21st consecutive home win, the second longest streak in the nation. She had a career-high nine total blocks (three solo, six assists) in the win over FIU, averaging 2.25 blocks per set and helping hold the Panthers to a .181 hitting percentage as a team. For the season, Smith has 43 total blocks.
