FAU MBB: Martin, Forrest Honored by CUSA

BOCA RATON (FAUSports.com) — FAU men’s basketball players Alijah Martin and Michael Forrest have earned All-Conference USA accolades, as voted on by the league’s coaches, athletics communications personnel and media.

Martin, a second-year freshman from Summit, Miss., was named to the All-Conference USA Third Team. His inclusion marks the first time an Owl has been recognized on one of the three all-conference teams since 2019. It’s just the fourth time ever that an FAU student-athlete was on the All-CUSA first, second or third teams.

Martin leads FAU in scoring (14.1 ppg), rebounding (5.3 rpg), 3-point field goal percentage (.410) and steals (49). His 3-point field goal percentage ranks No. 2 in Conference USA and No 29 in all of NCAA Division I, while he is No. 5 in C-USA and No. 7 4in the nation, averaging 2.58 3-point field goals per game.

Forrest was named All-CUSA Honorable Mention. He ranks second on the team in scoring, averaging 13.4 points per game. His .855 free throw percentage is tops on the squad. The Lauderhill, Fla. native ranks No. 2 on the team in assists (93), 3-point field goals (79) and 3-point field goal percentage (.354). Earlier this season, he became the 14th member of the 1,000-Point Club at FAU. He currently ranks No. 8 in all-time scoring at FAU with 1,269 points.

The Florida Atlantic University men’s basketball team is 18-13 overall and finished 11-7 in Conference USA action. The Owls have clinched their fourth straight winning season, a first for the program. FAU’s 11 wins in C-USA play was their most since joining the conference.

FAU will play in the quarterfinals of the Conference USA Championship Tournament Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. ET in Frisco, Texas vs. either UTSA or Southern Miss.
