Cross Country Named USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams, Two Earn Individual Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Nova Southeastern men’s and women’s cross country teams have both been honored by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as All-Academic teams. In addition, women’s cross country runners Michelle Bauer and Isabella Aristizabal were named 2019 NCAA Division II Cross Country All-Academic Athletes.

Programs must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or greater and scored at an NCAA Division II regional meet to qualify for the award. Individual honorees must have compiled a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 or greater and must have finished among the top 30 percent of total eligible runners at his or her NCAA Regional Championship.

In addition to their efforts on the course, the men’s cross country program finished the semester with a 3.2 cumulative GPA, while the women’s squad is at 3.13, contributing to an overall NSU effort that saw the best Fall semester on record and every Sharks program above a 3.0.

The veteran and the rookie, Bauer (Jr., St. Marys, Pa.) was a consistent leader for the Sharks this fall, pacing NSU in all seven meets, including the NCAA South Regional in Lakeland. Aristizabal (Fr., Davie, Fla.) worked her way into the upper Sharks pack and scored in four of six meets she ran last fall, including the Regional. Both runners are looking forward to strong distance performances on the track this spring, beginning with the NSU Invitational, Feb. 22 at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar, Fla.
