Corrick, Bruni Named to NFCA All-Region First and Third Teams

Pitcher Georgina Corrick was named to the NFCA All-Region First Team, Outfielder AnaMarie Bruni was named to the third team


LOUISVILLE, Ky., MAY 16, 2019 – USF’s Georgina Corrick and AnaMarie Bruni were selected to the National Fastpitch College Association All-Region First Team and Third Team, respectively.

USF has seen Corrick (Sanford, Fla.) lead in the circle and Bruni (Schwenksville, Pa.) lead the Bulls offensively all season. The NFCA recognized their hard work with all-region selections on the eve of the Bulls’ NCAA tournament opener in Tallahassee.

The NFCA announced that 392 student-athletes from 163 programs that received 2019 NFCA Division I All-Region accolades.  

The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association’s 10 regions with first, second and third-team selections. NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the teams, and all the honorees now become eligible for the 2019 NFCA Division I All-America squads. 

Corrick was named The American Pitcher of the Year for the second straight season after leading the Bulls with 24 wins this season and a striking .90 ERA. She ranks third nationally this season in earned run average (.90), 16th in strikeouts (241) and she’s tied for the seventh-most shutouts (11) in the country heading into USF’s Tallahassee Regional run that begins Friday at noon against No. 21 South Carolina (TV: SEC Network). Corrick has recorded 19 complete games, 195 innings and three saves while holding batters to a .161 average.

Bruni has been performing at a high level in the outfield and at the plate, boasting 82 putouts and four assists for a .989 fielding percentage. Bruni has led the team offensively for the majority of the season and is currently averaging .384. She has crossed home 41 times this season and has started all 57 of USF’s games. Her 68 hits are the most on the team, and she has recorded 17 total RBI. Bruni is a threat on the base paths, going 31-for-37 in stolen bases this season.
