Cities to hold Memorial Day events to honor those who served

These are a few events that will be held to honor military personnel who died while serving in the military.

This Monday, we honor all of the men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

We are grateful for all these heroes on this day and every day.

Below is a list of events commemorating Memorial Day in District 96. 
Coconut Creek:
Monday, May 31 at 9 am, Veterans Park, 3550 Lyons Road
The City and American Legion Post 170 have invited the community to join them. There will be various guests, including city commissioners, dignitaries, guest speakers, and the Coconut Creek Police Department Honor Guard.
Parkland:
Sunday, May 30 at 5:30 pm, Parkland Amphitheater, 10561 Trails End
The city is hosting a ceremony where the 13th Army Band will be performing a patriotic concert. There will be a variety of food trucks. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.
Margate:
Monday, May 31 at 9 am, Veterans Memorial Park, 7044 NW First Street
Mayor Arlene Schwartz will be leading a ceremony with a surprise military keynote speaker. The ceremony will include the Memorial Day essay contest winners from elementary schools, the Margate Police Department and Fire Department Honor Guards, and Boy and Girl Scout troops.
Coral Springs:
Monday, May 31 at 9:30 am, Veterans Park, 8601 Royal Palm Blvd.
Commander Tom Melville is the featured speaker at the ceremony. Veterans, families, and friends will have the opportunity to purchase an engraved brick to be placed at Veterans Park. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
