TAMPA, FEB. 10, 2020 – USF is proud to once again honor the legacy of Lee Roy Selmon during a special evening event to benefit the unique student-athlete mentoring institute named in his honor.

Tickets are on sale now for BullsFest 2020 presented by R.R. Simmons, a premier auction event set for Saturday, May 16 inside the Yuengling Center on USF’s Tampa campus. The event gets underway at 6 p.m. and will feature live and silent auctions, with all proceeds benefiting the Selmon Mentoring Institute, a progressive program providing one-on-one mentoring opportunities for USF’s nearly 500 student-athletes to develop as people and professionals and prepare for life after graduation.

Following BullsFest’s grand return in 2019, this year’s event theme is Celebrating 55 Years of Athletics.  Attendees will be provided with a firsthand look at the monumental impact the Selmon Mentoring Institute has made since its inaugural class entered the program in 2014, as well as a celebration of the 55-year history of USF Athletics.

“My experience in the Selmon Mentoring Institute is one that I will cherish for the rest of my life,” said Kyle Teaf, a USF baseball standout from 2012-15 who is now a sales representative for Crosslink Orthopaedics. “The way the program embodied Lee Roy Selmon’s spirit of developing and preparing student-athletes for life after sports is something truly special and unique.”

BullsFest 2020 is expected to attract more than 500 attendees, like last year’s highly successful gathering at Raymond James Stadium. Individual event tickets ($100-$150), tables for up to eight people ($1,200) and sponsorships can be purchased at the official event page HERE. Several sponsorship opportunities are available and they’re crucial for making more progress in the mission of reaching the Selmon Mentoring Institute’s $4 million endowment goal. If unable to attend, charitable contributions can be made HERE.

Attire for the event is Florida casual and attendees will get to enjoy a fun evening of bidding on a wide variety of live and silent auction items, and special packages. Auction item donations can be made by contacting Senior Associate Director of Athletics Yulander Wells Jr. by email at ywells.usf.edu.

Since 2014, USF Athletics has made the Selmon family proud by conducting the Selmon Mentoring Institute program that begins with a two-credit development course for student-athletes to focus on identity and career planning. The course leads into a one-credit practicum, giving student-athletes an opportunity to engage in a one-on-one mentorship, which has helped lead Bulls to numerous professional opportunities throughout the Bay area and beyond.

A total 151 Selmon Mentoring Institute graduates have been guided by a mentor pool of more than 120 experts from area organizations, including the Tampa Bay Lightning and Rays, ESPN, USF Health, Westshore Financial Group and the Tampa Police Department.

Register for BullsFest 2020 today and expect more exciting details to follow in the time leading up to the big event on May 16.
