USF women’s basketball has signed Spanish wing Cristina Bermejo
TAMPA, June 10, 2019 – Head coach Jose Fernandez has announced the newest signee to the USF women’s basketball program, Cristina Bermejo from Spain.
“Cristina’s versatility at her size is going to make her a match up problem for teams,”Fernandez said. “We have had great success with guards of her stature and their ability to score in a variety of ways and this will allow her to adapt to our system to become an impact player.”
The 6-foot-1 wing hails from Sant Jus Deservn, Spain. Bermejo trained with club team Basquet Almeda where she averaged 10 points, six rebounds and five assists in her career.

USF has made 15 postseason tournament appearances and had six NCAA Tournament berths in head coach Jose Fernandez’s 19 seasons. The all-time winningestcoach in program history, Fernandez has guided USF to nine 20-win seasons, two WNIT final four appearances, the 2009 WNIT championship and won more than 350 games.
