Anthony Nesty Named Assistant Coach to the Men’s U.S Olympic Swim Team

He will be joining four other Gators in Tokyo.

“I am very honored to be appointed to the United States Olympic Staff as a Men’s Assistant Coach”, said Nesty. “I am thrilled to be with our athletes on this journey and we will all do our best to represent the Gators and the United States admirably. We have some work to do and we will do our best to get ourselves on the medal podium in Tokyo.”

Nesty earned his third-straight SEC Coach of the Year title after leading the men’s team to their ninth-consecutive league title in February.

At the NCAA Championships, he led the Gators to their best finish since 2017 with a third-place finish. During the Olympic Trials, both Smith and Finke qualified in two individual events under coach Nesty. Smith won the 200 free and the 400 free, while Finke won the 800 free and the 1500 free.

Joining Nesty as an Assistant Coach for the U.S. Men’s Olympic Team is former Gator Head Coach Gregg Troy.
