American Athletic Conference Announces Women’s Basketball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball awards for the week ending Sunday, December 24.

Player of the Week

Amiya Joyner, So., F, East Carolina

Joyner led the Pirates to a pair of wins over George Mason and Charleston Southern. The sophomore forward averaged 19.5 points, 13.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and three steals. Against George Mason, Joyner scored 27 points on 9-of-15 shooting, while grabbing 16 rebounds and blocking six shots.

Freshman of the Week

Idara Udo, Fr., F, UTSA

Udo led the Roadrunners to a win over Seattle. The forward scored 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting, while coming down with nine rebounds and dishing out two assists.

Weekly Honor Roll

Amirah Abdur-Rahim, Sr., F, SMU

Abdur-Rahim led the Mustangs to wins over Sam Houston and Air Force, averaging 17 points and 12 rebounds.

Elyssa Coleman, R-Jr., F, UTSA

Coleman scored 18 points and came down with nine rebounds in UTSA’s win over Seattle.

Marta Galic, Gr., G, Tulane

Galic led Tulane to wins over Little Rock and Maine, averaging 21 points, including a 24-point outburst against Little Rock.

Delanie Crawford, Jr., G, Tulsa

Crawford averaged 18.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in two games, including scoring 17 points in Tulsa’s win over (RV) Texas Tech.

Sierra Morrow, Sr., F, Wichita State

Morrow scored 29 points and grabbed nine rebounds in Wichita State’s game against Oral Roberts.
