American Athletic Conference Announces Softball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball awards for the week ending Sunday, March 3.

Player of the Week

Arianna Rodi, So., UTL, Charlotte

Rodi finished with a hit and RBI in every game for the 49ers this week.  Her biggest hit came in a three-run walk-off home run to lift Charlotte past No. 14 Kentucky.  The win marked Charlotte’s second win over a ranked opponent this season.

Pitcher of the Week

Iliana Saucedo, Fr., P, UTSA

In three appearances, Saucedo held a 0.54 ERA.  She earned wins against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Grambling State, striking out 18 batters, while walking just five in 13.0 innings of work.

Weekly Honor Roll

Hannah Dorsett, Fr., 2B, UAB

Dorsett had a hit in four of five games played, knocking in five runs while batting .500 at the plate.

Emma Jackson, So., OF, East Carolina

Jackson finished with seven RBI, while earning a hit in five of the six games played for East Carolina. She scored an additional five runs.

Kamryn Jackson, Gr., OF, Florida Atlantic

Jackson hit .500 on the week, scoring seven times and knocking in an additional seven runs. 

Abby Jones, Sr., 2B, Tulsa

Jones had multiple hits in three of the five games played, scoring seven times and knocking in six runs.

Krystin Nelson, Jr., INF, Wichita State

Nelson held a .600 batting average, finishing with a hit in every game for the Shockers.
