American Athletic Conference Announces Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly outdoor track & field awards for the week ending Sunday, April 14.

Men’s Track Athlete of the Week

Brice Chabot, Jr., UTSA

Chabot broke the 10-second barrier in the 100-meter dash at the Beach Invitational.  The junior finished the race in 9.99 seconds, the second fastest time in the NCAA this season.

Men’s Field Athlete of the Week

Christian Le Roux, Jr., UTSA

Le Roux had the top collegiate finish in long jump at the Beach Invitational on Saturday.  With a jump of 7.80 meters, Le Roux has the 18th best mark in the nation this season.

Women’s Track Athlete of the Week

Joyasia Smith, So., Charlotte

Smith set the Charlotte program record in the 100-meter dash during the Duke Invitational.  With a time of 11.19 seconds, she has the top mark in The American and the 16th fastest mark in the NCAA.

Women’s Field Athlete of the Week

Ida Breigan, Fr., UTSA

Breigan overtook the top mark in the nation in long jump on Saturday at the Beach Invitational with a leap of 6.74 meters.  She broke the UTSA program record that had stood since 1994.
