SAINT AUGUSTINE, Fla.– The Lynn University softball team split with Georgia Southwestern on Saturday in its first two contests of the 2020 season at the Flagler Invitational.

STATS OF THE GAME:
- Game 1
- Grasy Gomez, in her first-ever at-bat as a Fighting Knight, launched a three-run homer to score Kayla Sheffield and Shayle Arenson in the first.
- Olivia Pope went 1-for-3 with an RBI in the leadoff spot.
- Sheffield had a 1-for-2 game, scoring three runs.
- Shannon Johnson knocked out two hits and collected an RBI.
- Natalie Costero also had two hits in three at-bats.
- Allyson Jameston performed well in the circle, pitching a complete game, giving up just eight hits and two earned runs while striking out three.
- Game 2
- Arenson was the standout performer in game two, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored, a double and a two-run home run in the sixth.
- Bailey Fernandez collected the first two hits of her Lynn career.
- Brittney Davis also knocked out two singles and picked up an RBI in the third.
- Lynn outhit GSW 13-7.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Lynn has now defeated GSW in its first game of the season two consecutive years.
- Only a combined four of 10 runs scored on the Blue and White were earned.
