DOLPHINS WIN FOURTH IN A ROW, BEAT PANTHERS 33 – 1 0
• This is Miami’s fourth consecutive victory. It’s the first time the Dolphins have won four straight games since a fivegame winning streak from Oct. 11, 2020 to Nov. 15, 2020.
• It’s the second-longest winning streak under Brian Flores.
• Today marks Miami’s first win over Carolina since a 24-17 road win on Nov. 19, 2009.
• The Dolphins are now 10-3 in the month of November since Brian Flores became head coach in 2019, including an
8-1 mark in November over the past two seasons.
• Miami is now 16-6 after Halloween in the Flores era.
• This is Miami’s 11th win in its past 18 home games and the team’s third consecutive home victory.
• Miami closed the month of November with a 4-0 record, marking its third undefeated month in the past decade and
first in five seasons. Miami went 4-0 in November in 2016 and 3-0 in October in 2012.
• The Dolphins are now 5-2 all-time against Carolina.
DEFENSE LIMITS CAROLINA PASSERS TO 13. 4 RATING
• The Dolphins limited Carolina passers to just 10-of-31 (32.2 pct.) for 179 yards, no touchdowns and three
interceptions. It resulted in a passer rating of 13.4, which was the lowest opponent passer rating in an NFL game this
season.
• The 13.4 passer rating is the lowest allowed by the Dolphins in a game since Sept. 21, 2003, when the Dolphins
limited Buffalo passers to a 10.3 rating.
o It’s the 12th-lowest rating allowed by the Dolphins since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970.
• The Dolphins allowed just 198 total yards, which is the second-fewest yards allowed in the Brian Flores era since

  1. Miami allowed 196 yards to Cincinnati on Dec. 6, 2020.
    o The Dolphins have allowed less than 400 yards for the seventh consecutive game, the team’s longest such
    streak since a nine-game streak from Jan. 1, 2017 to Nov. 5, 2017.
    • Miami’s defense had three interceptions – one by S Jevon Holland in the second quarter, one by CB Xavien
    Howard in the second quarter and one by CB Nik Needham in the fourth quarter.
    o Miami now has 19 takeaways this year, tied for sixth-most in the NFL.*
    • The Dolphins also posted five sacks, including a team-high three by LB Jaelan Phillips.
    o Miami has multiple sacks now in four consecutive games – all wins – and leads the NFL with 16 sacks in that
    timeframe.*
    o Miami is tied for 10th in the NFL with 28 sacks this season.*
    • Miami allowed just 64 rushing yards, which was the second-lowest output by the Panthers this season and the
    second-lowest allowed by the Dolphins in the Flores era after surrendering just 40 to Cincinnati on Dec. 6, 2020.
    • DE Emmanuel Ogbah now has a batted pass in seven consecutive games. According to FOX, it’s the longest streak
    by an NFL defensive lineman in 20 years. Ogbah also set a new career high with his ninth batted pass of the season.

TAGOVAILOA POSTS CAREER – BEST 87.1 COMPLETION P ERCENTAG E
• QB Tua Tagovailoa completed 27-of-31 passes today for a career-best 87.1 completion percentage.
o It was the best by a Dolphins quarterback since QB Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 90.0 pct. of his passes on
Sept. 24, 2020 at Jacksonville.
• Tagovailoa has now set a career high in completion percentage in back-to-back weeks after he completed 81.8
percent of his passes in last week’s win at the N.Y. Jets.
• With five games still to play, Tagovailoa’s 70.5 completion percentage this season is the best in franchise history
(min. 75 completions) and is second in the NFL behind Arizona’s Kyler Murray (72.7). • Since returning off injured reserve in Week 6, Tagovailoa is 148-of-219 (72.9 pct.) for 1,486 yards, nine touchdowns and a passer rating of 97.9 in five-and-a-half games played. o His 72.9 completion percentage is second in the NFL in that span.
o His 148 completions rank fourth.*
o His 1,486 passing yards rank ninth.*
o His nine passing touchdowns are tied for ninth.*

• CB Xavien Howard picked off QB Cam Newton in the second quarter for the 25th interception of his career.
• According to Elias Sports Bureau, Howard is the fastest NFL player since 1990 to record 25 career interceptions.
Howard played his 67th NFL game today. The previous record belonged to CB Marcus Peters, who recorded his
25th interception in his 68th career game.
• The pick moved Howard into sole possession of sixth place in team history with his 25 interceptions:

DOLPHINS GET BIG CONTRIBUTIONS FROM SEVERAL ROOKIES
• Several rookies made big plays in today’s game:
o First-round pick (sixth overall) WR Jaylen Waddle had his first 100-yard game, leading the team with nine
receptions for 137 yards (15.2 avg.) and one touchdown.
 More details on Waddle’s performance can be found below.
o First-round pick (18th overall) LB Jaelan Phillips had three sacks today, the most by an NFL rookie since
Oakland’s DE Maxx Crosby had four on Nov. 17, 2019 against Cincinnati.
 Phillips’s three sacks are tied for the most in a game by a rookie in Dolphins history (A.J. Duhe on
Nov. 6, 1977 at N.Y. Jets and DE Marco Coleman on Oct. 25, 1992 vs. Indianapolis).
 Phillips now has 6.5 sacks this season, the fourth-most by a rookie in team history.
 It’s the fourth consecutive game that Phillips has recorded at least half a sack.
o Second-round pick (36th overall) S Jevon Holland recorded the second interception of his career today.
He’s the first Dolphins rookie with multiple picks in the same season since CB Nik Needham in 2019.
WADDLE TOTALS 100+ RECEIVING YARDS AND CATCHES T D IN F IRST HALF
• WR Jaylen Waddle finished the first half with seven receptions for 119 yards (17.0 avg.) and one touchdown.
• Waddle is the first rookie in team history to total 100+ receiving yards in the first half of a game and just the third
rookie in team history to have 100+ receiving yards in a half. RB Terry Kirby had a 100-yard second half on Dec. 19,
1993 vs. Buffalo and TE Ferrell Edmunds had a 100-yard second half on Nov. 27, 1988.
o The last NFL rookie to total 100+ receiving yards in the first half of a game was Arizona’s WR Rondale
Moore, who had 102 yards in the first half vs. Minnesota on Sept. 19, 2021.
• Waddle is the first Dolphins player since WR Jakeem Grant to total 100 receiving yards in a first half. Grant had 101
receiving yards in the first half at Kansas City on Dec. 24, 2017.
o The last Dolphins player with 100 receiving yards in any half was WR DeVante Parker, who had 108
receiving yards in the second half at Buffalo on Jan. 3, 2021.
• Waddle finished the game with nine receptions for 137 yards (15.2 avg.) and the one touchdown. It brings his season
totals to 77 receptions for 759 yards (9.9 avg.) and four touchdowns.
o Waddle’s 77 receptions are second-most by a rookie in Dolphins history (WR Jarvis Landry, 84 in 2014) and
second-most by any NFL player in their first 12 career games (N.Y. Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr., 91 in
2014).

o Waddle’s 759 receiving yards move him into fourth place among rookies in Dolphins history (WR Jarvis
Landry, 758 in 2014).
• Waddle now ranks third in the NFL in receptions (77) and leads all NFL rookies in the category.*
o His 759 receiving yards are 14th in the NFL this year and second among rookies.*
• On third-and-goal from the nine-yard line in the second half, Waddle caught a touchdown pass to give Miami a 14-7
lead. It was the fourth touchdown reception of the season for Waddle and his fifth touchdown overall (one rushing).
o Waddle’s four touchdown receptions ties him with TE Randy McMichael (2002) for the fourth-most by a
rookie in team history. WR Chris Chambers holds the team rookie record with seven in 2001.
DOLPHINS BLOCKED PUNT TD GIVES MIAMI EARLY 7 – 0 LEAD
• On Carolina’s first punt of the game, LB Duke Riley came free and nearly took the ball of P Lachlan Edwards’ foot.
CB Justin Coleman recovered the ball and pushed a pile two yards into the end zone to give Miami a 7-0 lead.
• It was Miami’s first blocked punt return for a touchdown since Dec. 17, 2016 when S Walt Aikens blocked a punt and
returned it 11 yards for a score at the N.Y. Jets.
• The last Dolphins player to block a punt was LB Andrew Van Ginkel on Nov. 15, 2020 vs. the L.A. Chargers.
• The touchdown for Coleman was the fourth of his career. He returned two interceptions for a touchdown in 2017
with Seattle. He returned a fumble for a touchdown in 2018, also with the Seahawks.
