NEW ORLEANS – Lynn University’s women’s track program was recognized for its academic excellence for the second consecutive season on Monday, earning an All-Academic Team Award from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The Fighting Knights make it 2-for-2 with All-Academic Team Awards in their first two seasons of official competition under head coach Chris Wood, earning a 3.41 cumulative GPA. In total, 130 women’s teams received this honor which goes to all programs with a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or better.
Wood’s women’s track and cross country programs have earned five USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Awards since his hiring in 2016. The women’s cross country team has earned three All-Academic Team Awards in its first three seasons of competition under Wood (2016, 2017, 2018) with the women’s track program tabbed with this accolade in both 2018 and 2019.
Five Sunshine State Conference programs made the cut for All-Academic Team awards, with Florida Southern leading the way with a 3.59 team GPA. Tampa tied Lynn with a 3.41 team mark, while Nova Southeastern (3.25) and Embry-Riddle (3.14) also earned the accolades.
