WOMEN’S TENNIS ADDS THREE NEWCOMERS TO 2021 CLASS

ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Oakland women’s tennis team has added Yasmin GlazbrookMia Melnizki and Joëlle Tabernal to the 2021 recruiting class announced Head Coach Heather Redshaw.

“I am excited to have Yasmine and Mia come in with some collegiate tennis experience as transfers from Green Bay who will add depth to our team,” said Redshaw. “I also look forward to watching Joëlle continue to develop and impact our lineup as an incoming freshman.”

YASMIN GLAZBROOK
Hometown: Adelaide, Australia
High School: St. Peters Girls
Previous School: Green Bay

Highlights:
• Posted a 4-6 record at No. 1 doubles and 5-7 mark between No. 1 (1-2) and No. 2 (4-5) singles helping Green Bay to a 6-6 overall mark during the shortened 2020 season
• Recorded three wins at No. 1 singles (3-10) and went 1-1 at the No. 2 position while going 3-2 at the No. 1 doubles position, 1-1 at No. 2 and 1-5 at No. 3 with a 5-8 overall mark in 2019

MIA MELNIZKI
Hometown: Miami, Fla.
High School: Broward Virtual
Previous School: Green Bay

Highlights:
• Posted a 4-6 record at No. 2 doubles and 5-7 mark between No. 3 (2-4) and No. 4 (3-3) singles helping Green Bay to a 6-6 overall mark during the shortened 2020 season
• Played in 21 matches mainly at the No. 1 spot at Western Illinois picking up her first collegiate win against Northern Illinois (Sept. 23) and first doubles victory versus Chicago State (Sept. 28) in 2019

JOËLLE TABERNAL
Hometown: Hilversum, North Holland
High School: Stedelijk Gymnasium Johan van Oldenbarnevelt

Highlights:
• Won Province Tournament earning No. 1 ranking in Utrecht, Holland
• Reached No. 80 national ranking
• Helped Holland team win club division competition three times and also won multiple individual UTR tournaments
