Wolverines Add Vallimont to Incoming Freshman Class

ANN ARBOR, Mich. –University of Michigan softball head coach Carol Hutchins announced Tuesday (Jan. 18) the addition of Lilly Vallimont, a catcher and utility player from Trenton, Mich., to the Wolverines’ incoming freshman class.

“Lilly is one of the highest rated kids in the country,” said Hutchins. “She is just an outstanding all-around player — a catcher by nature, but she can play a lot of positions — and she’s a bona fide hitter. She loves every aspect of the game and loves to work really hard on every aspect. I think she’s the type of teammate who elevates all of those around her. She’s a great Michigan Woman, and we’re thrilled to keep her home. She will be a tremendous addition to our 2023 Michigan softball freshman class.”

Vallimont is the No. 1-ranked catcher and No. 5 overall player in the class of 2022, according to Extra Innings Softball. She compiled a .563 batting average as a junior with Trenton High School last season (2021) with 14 home runs, 39 hits, 50 RBI and 25 stolen bases, establishing new school records for home runs and RBI. She garnered first team All-State honors as a shortstop — she was also first team All-State at catcher as a sophomore (2019) and contributed to Trenton’s 2021 Downriver League title. She also is a two-time All-Downriver team honoree and earned All-Catholic League selection in 2019.

Vallimont has played travel ball for several top clubs, including the Beverly Bandits and Lady Dukes, and contributed to team titles at the 2019 PGF 16U Premier National Championship and 2020 USA Softball National Championship and a runner-up finish at the 2021 PGF 18U Nationals. She was named the Offensive MVP at the 2019 Wilson Fastpitch Championship. With Vallimont’s addition, the Wolverines’ incoming freshman class now stands at six players and features four ranked among the nation’s top-50 prospects. Third baseman/pitcher Maddie Erickson, infielder Avery Fantucci, infielder Janelle Ilacqua, infielder/outfielder Indiana Langford and infielder/outfielder Madi Ramey also signed National Letters of Intent last November.Letters of Intent to Join Michigan Softball (11/11/2021)
