Wheeler’s Late Goal Lifts UAB Over Middle Tennessee 2-1

BIRMINGHAM –For the second straight match Jessica Wheeler scored the game-winner, this time in the 85th minute in UAB’s 2-1 victory over Middle Tennessee on Sunday afternoon at PNC Field.
 
With the victory, the Blazers improved to 4-2-2, 1-0-0 C-USA on the season and 4-1-0 at PNC Field. Middle Tennessee falls to 2-6-1, 0-1-0 C-USA.

Eve Beyer stopped three shots, en route to earning her third victory of the season.
 
UAB got on the board first in the 16th minute when a Lizzie Hill cross found Carlyn Presley for the score.
 
MT made the match level in the 52nd minute on an Emma Pettersen goal.
 
The game-winner started when Halliwill had the ball inside the 18-yard line and found Wheeler on the right side. Wheeler took two dribbles and found the back of the net on the past Blue Raider keeper Hannah Suder.
 
UAB hits the road to Miami to take on FIU (2-4-1, 0-1-1) on Sept. 22. The Panthers fell to Rice 3-0 earlier today. The next home match is Sept. 25 versus Florida Atlantic at 6 P.M (CT)/7 P.M. (ET) .
