What does your networking experience feel like?

“ME” Monday® 6-1-2020 networking 2

What does your networking experience feel like?

Do you focus more on that uncomfortable feeling or on the excitement of sharing your message and developing profitable relationships?

There used to be a time when I would drive to an event clutching the steering wheel with this feeling of pure dread! The thought of being the center of attention in order to meet new people felt scary. Once I arrived, I would push a smile onto my face and scan the room to find someone new that I felt comfortable to meet.

The old process was greeting several people, collecting business cards, then feel relief when the event ended so I could return to my car where it felt safe again. The ride home was always relaxing yet thinking what do I do now with the business cards I had collected. It felt almost as scary to follow up with these new contacts after the event as it felt to introduce myself in the first place.

These days, because of these uncertain times, many of us are working from home so we jump online with Zoom to network. How might this change the connection process?

What if this online venue was an opportunity to connect with even more potential clients and referrals?

We network for business, for dating, for socializing, on social media, even when we are meeting a friend for a cup of coffee or chatting on Facetime or Zoom.

Did you know another word for networking is schmoozing? Schmoozing simply means chatting or socializing.

That sounds simple and a bit more comfortable, doesn’t it?

When we network as professionals, our goal is to build authentic relationships that will eventually lead to new business. So, why can it feel so difficult to do?

Since determining the right steps to improve the networking process and consistently applying them correctly, my existing relationships strengthen while new contact connections blossom and flourish online and off!

Learning these few steps can lead to developing the kind of relationships that will provide the return on investment you are looking for whether it is for business or for the heart.

If you are not sure about the next step to take, please send me a message.

Either way, plan something special for yourself today. After all, it’s the step to take on “ME” Monday®.

Be safe. Be healthy. Be self-responsible. Be POWERFUL!

This is your now!
