BIRMINGHAM – After completing the regular season leading Conference USA in six different categories, Zakyia Weathersby has been named to both the league’s First Team and All-Defensive Team, the league announced Monday.
Weathersby finished the regular season averaging 14.8 points per game and a league-best 11.3 rebounds. Fifteen of her league-leading 21 double-doubles came in conference play. Her 55.7 field goal percentage, 120 offensive rebounds, 208 defensive rebounds and 328 total rebounds all ranked first.
This is Weathersby’s second straight postseason award as she was named to All-Conference Second Team in 2021.
UAB, the No. 5 seed in the West, will face WKU, the No. 4 seed in the East in the Second Round of the 2022 Heritage Landscape Supply Group C-USA Basketball Championships. The Blazers and Lady Toppers will face off on March 9 at 1:30 p.m. The winner will take on No. 1 West seed LA Tech in the quarterfinals March 10 at 1:30 p.m.
