The Owls lead the AAC as a team in fouls per game (13.2) and rebounds per game (41.6), and rank third in field goal percentage defense (38.4) and defensive rebounds per game (28.1), fourth in rebounding margin (1.6) and 3-point percentage defense (29.4), and fifth in bench points per game (19.5), scoring defense (62.9), and 3-point attempts per game (19.4). The Owls are paced offensively by Mya Perry, who ranks third in the AAC in 3-pointers made (36) and fourth in 3-pointers per game (2.6), boasting a team-leading 14.8 points per game. Erin Rodgers and Jada Moore also average double figures for the Owls, ranking second and third on the team with 12.0 and 11.4 points per game, respectively. Stefanie Ingram ranks second in the AAC and leads the Owls in assists, recording 69 assists this season, while also ranking third in the AAC in assists per game, dishing out a team-leading 4.9 assists per contest. Defensively, the Owls are led on the glass by Alana Rouser, pulling down a team-leading 74 rebounds, averaging 5.3 per game, while Moore and Ta’Ziah Jenks tie for second on the team with 71 rebounds and averaging 5.1 rebounds per game each. SCOUTING EAST CAROLINA East Carolina heads into this weekend’s matchup at 8-6 overall and 0-2 in AAC play, falling against Tulsa, 93-84, and Temple, 63-58, to open up the conference season. As a team, the Pirates lead the AAC in offensive rebounds per game (15.9), steals per game (10.7), and turnovers forced per game (21.4), in addition to ranking second in rebounding margin (5.6), scoring defense (59.6), and 3-point percentage defense (28.2), third in free throw attempts per game (19.3), and fourth in free throws made per game (12.6) and rebounds per game (40.3).East Carolina is led offensively by Amiya Joyner, who ranks fifth in the AAC, averaging 15.1 points per game. Jayla Hearp also averages double figures for the Pirates, posting 11.9 points per game.Joyner also ranks second in the AAC and leads the Pirates on the glass, collecting a team-high 8.9 rebounds per game. Joyner and Khia Miller are tied for the team lead in assists, dishing out 1.6 assists per game each. Hearp leads the Pirates in steals, collecting a team-best 2.1 steals per game, and Taliyah Wyche is the Pirates blocks leader, tallying 0.9 blocks per game this season. SERIES HISTORY The Owls trail the Pirates 0-4 all-time and are 0-1 when playing in Greenville. East Carolina won the last meeting between the two teams 78-74 on Jan. 25, 2024 last season. LAST TIME OUT: VS. TULANE The Owls fell against the Tulane Green Wave in their AAC opener this past Sunday, 91-71. Ta’Ziah Jenks had a career day against the Green Wave, leading the Owls with a career-high 23 points, shooting 7-of-11 from the field, 50 percent (2-of-4) from 3-point range, and going 7-of-8 from the line, in addition to adding a team-high four steals and three boards. Mya Perry and Jada Moore joined Jenks in double figures, finishing with 17 and 14 points, respectively. Emaya Lewis led the Owls on the glass, tying a career-best eight rebounds on the day. The Owls made a season-high 23 free throws, finishing with 79.3 percent (23-of-29) at the line. Florida Atlantic also finished with advantages in points off turnovers, 19-15, second change points, 19-13, and fastbreak points, 16-8.
