BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic women’s basketball (7-14, 2-8 AAC) heads back on the road this week for another midweek battle, this time against the Charlotte 49ers (13-9, 6-4 AAC). Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. ET inside Halton Arena.

FLORIDA ATLANTIC: AT A GLANCE

  • Florida Atlantic heads into this weekend’s matchup at 7-14 overall and 2-8 in AAC play and are just coming off their second AAC win of the season, defeating the Rice Owls 68-63.

  • Defensively, Janeta Rozentale is the Owls’ leader on the boards, collecting 8.8 rebounds per game, while Hubbard and Dyllan Hanna lead the team in steals and blocks, tallying 2.7 steals per game and 0.9 blocks per game, respectively.

LAST TIME OUT

  • The Owls had a historic Saturday, earning the program’s 500th all-time win and picking up their second AAC victory of the season in a 68-63 comeback win against the Rice Owls.
  • Janeta RozentaleAniya Hubbard, and Maria Myklebust led the Owls in the win over Rice.
  • Rozentale tied a career-best 21 points, shooting 64 percent (7-of-11) from the field, 67 percent (2-of-3) from 3-point range, and 71 percent (5-of-7) at the line. She also collected a team-leading seven rebounds, in addition to an assist and a steal.
  • Hubbard also had a phenomenal game, scoring 17 points on 33 percent (5-of-15) from the floor and 78 percent (7-of-9) from the charity stripe. She also pulled down a team second-best six boards, in addition to grabbing a team-leading three steals and tying for a team-leading three assists.
  • Myklebust rounded out the Owls double-figure scorers, turning in her second double-digit performance of the season. She scored 10 points, shooting a perfect 100 percent from the floor (4-of-4) and from 3-point range (2-of-2). She also added two steals, an assist, and a board on the day.
  • The Owls absolutely dominated the fourth quarter, outscoring Rice an astounding 30-14. Florida Atlantic also outscored Rice in the second quarter, 19-16.
  • Florida Atlantic outshot Rice from beyond the arc, 37.5 percent to 28.6 percent, and at the line, 76.9 percent to 61.9 percent.
  • The Owls also took huge advantage of turnovers, outscoring Rice 13-3 off TOs, while also holding advantages in points off the bench, 35-19, and points in the paint, 28-26.

SCOUTING CHARLOTTE

  • Charlotte enters Wednesday’s matchup at 13-9 on the season and 6-4 in league play. The 49ers snapped a three-game skid in their last outing, securing a tight 88-81 double-overtime contest against Temple.
  • The 49ers are in their 13th season under head coach Cara Consuegra. At the helm, Coach Consuegra has led the 49ers to a 222-163 record during her time in Charlotte.
  • As a team, Charlotte rank in the top five in a few categories. The 49ers rank second in the free throws made per game (16.6) and free throw attempts per game (22.3), fourth in rebounding margin (3.6), steals per game (9.0), and turnovers forced per game (18.5), and fifth in scoring defense (63.1) and free throw percentage (.745).
  • The 49ers are led offensively by Dazia Lawerence and Tracey Hueston. Lawerence boasts a team-best 18.2 points per game, and Hueston ranks second on the team with 13.3 points per game.
  • Olivia Porter leads Charlotte in assists, averaging 3.2 per game.
  • Defensively, Charlotte is led on the glass by Keanna Rembert, who has pulled down a team-best 5.0 rebounds per game. Imani Smith leads the team in steals with 2.0 per game, while Hueston has tallied a team-leading 1.1 blocks per game.

SERIES HISTORY

  • Florida Atlantic trails the all-time series against the 49ers, 3-11. The Owls will look to break a five-game skid against the 49ers on Wednesday In the last meeting between the two programs, Charlotte took a 73-59 decision on Feb. 4, 2023.
