Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Announces Commentators for 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs Presented by GEICO, First Round – Starting Tuesday, April 18

Coverage to Begin with NHL on TBS Face Off presented by Verizon Pre-Game at 6:30 p.m. ET, Followed by First Round, Game 1 of “The Hudson River Rivalry” — New York Rangers vs. New Jersey Devils at 7 p.m. on TBS 

2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs Presented by GEICOto Culminate with WBD Sports’ First Ever Presentation of the Stanley Cup Final 

Warner Bros. Discovery Sports will drop the puck on its Sports Emmy-nominated coverage of the Stanley Cup Playoffs with up to 28 First Round games, starting TuesdayApril 18 with Game 1 of the “The Hudson River Rivalry” — the New York Rangers and Artemi Panarin will travel to take on Jack Hughes and the New Jersey Devils at 7 p.m. ET on TBS

Kenny Albert will provide play-by-play, with commentary from Keith Jones and Jackie Redmond

WBD Sports’ Stanley Cup Playoffs coverage will continue with a 15-game slate over five days, beginning with a First Round Game 2 doubleheader on ThursdayApril 20 on TBS — Rangers at Devils at 7:30 p.m., and Winnipeg Jets at Vegas Golden Knights at 10 p.m. 

Albert, Jones and Redmond will once again be on the call for Rangers/Devils. Alex Faust will provide play-by-play for Jets/Golden Knights, along with commentary from Eddie Olczyk and Shane Hnidy

TNT and TBS will combine to televise up to 56 games during the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs, culminating with TNT’s first-ever presentation of the Stanley Cup Final, with expansive digital content and highlights from B/R Open Ice all postseason long.  

Live game coverage throughout the postseason will be preceded by a 30-minute NHL on TNT Face Off Presented by Verizon pregame hosted by Liam McHugh, alongside a rotating collection of esteemed analysts including hockey icon Wayne Gretzky, Vezina Trophy winner Henrik Lundqvist, 10-year NHL veteran Anson Carter, Calder Cup Champion Paul Bissonnette, Olympic Gold Medalist Colby Armstrong and former NHL iron man Keith Yandle

The studio team will also provide analysis and insights between periods during the Lexus First Intermission Report and the Discover Second Intermission Report, and the NHL on TNT Post Game Show, presented by Cadillac.

WBD Sports Serves Up Successful Second Season of Hockey Coverage Across Platforms 

The second year of live NHL regular season game coverage on TNT finished strong with average time spent watching live game coverage up 58% vs. 2022 and average audience for post-NHL All Star Break games up 17%. NHL on TNT Sunday telecasts delivered a 52% increase in average audience vs. last season. Earlier this season, NHL on TNT also hosted its second-ever Winter Classic in January, the most-watched NHL regular-season game of all-time on cable television. On B/R Open Ice – Bleacher Report’s hockey vertical – video views across all platforms were up 8x, while total engagements were up 3x vs. last season.
