MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Sunshine State Conference announced the 2023 Volleyball awards on Tuesday morning. The Nova Southeastern Sharks have three All-Conference representatives, as Nadia Lindner was named the SSC Player of the Year and to the First-Team, while Madison Cook and Taylor Stockman both received Second-Team recognition.
“I’m so proud and happy for Nadia! We knew in recruiting her we were getting a special player who was a difference maker in the SSC and she has exceeded those expectations,” stated Head Coach Kacie Ehinger. “She is a great leader and competitor and I’m excited to see her continue to thrive in the NCAA Tournament.”
Lindner becomes the first Nova Southeastern Shark Volleyball player to win the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year award. In SSC play, Lindner led the league in kills (319), second in points (359), third in kills-per-set (4.04) and third in points-per-set (4.54). The Whitby, Ontario-native finished the season with a 0.283 hitting percentage in league play, recording 2.01 digs-per-set and 0.52 blocks-per-set. The Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year Award is presented by College Ave Student Loans.
On the season, Lindner led NSU in kills (430), points (484.5), points-per-set (4.66), kills-per-set (4.13), and hitting percentage (0.286). Nadia tallied at least 60 kills on six occasions during the 2023 season, including setting a season-high against Florida Tech with 25 in the final match of the regular season. Lindner recorded the 1,000th kill of her collegiate career on October 20th, in a match against Auburn-Montgomery at the Sunshine State Conference and Gulf South Conference Crossover Tournament. Lindner was named the Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week four times during the 2023 campaign, winning the honor in three of the last five weeks of the season.
Madison Cook earns the second, All-Sunshine State Conference Second-Team honor of her career (2021), following a season in which she set career-highs across the board. Cook ranked second in SSC competition in assists-per-set (10.91) and third in the league in assists (742). Overall, Cook notched 846 assists during the 2023 season and averaged 10.44 assists-per-set.
Taylor Stockman, the 2022 Sunshine State Conference Freshman of the Year and All-SSC Third-Team representative, joined Cook on the Second-Team. In league play, Stockman finished second on the Sharks in kills (266), second in kills-per-set (2.86), second in points (281), and second in points-per-set (3.56). The sophomore also improved her game on the defensive side of the ball, finishing with the second-most digs (207) and second-most blocks (61).
The Nova Southeastern Sharks advanced to the NCAA South Region Tournament for the second consecutive year under Head Coach Kacie Ehinger and have made the tournament in each season dating back to 2021. NSU, the sixth-seed, will take on third-seeded Embry-Riddle in the first round of the NCAA Regional Tournament in Tampa, Fla., on Thursday, November 30th.
