Volleyball – Sharks Close out Regular Season with Victory

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern Sharks Volleyball team concluded its regular season with a four-set win against Florida Tech in Sunshine State Conference action on Saturday evening from the Clemente Center. Nadia Lindner recorded a season-best 25 kills in the effort, while Madison Cook became the fourth NSU Shark to surpass 3,000 assists in her career.

How it Happened
  • The Sharks began the match with a 6-2 lead, as NSU received contributions from Nadia LindnerTaylor StockmanOlivia Aniol and Brittany Landrum.
  • Landrum then recorded three consecutive kills, putting NSU ahead 9-3.
  • Later in the set, Nova Southeastern rallied to score four consecutive points and extended its lead to 19-12.
  • Landrum and Stockman gave the Sharks a 1-0 lead in the match, as the duo sealed a 25-21 opening set with a block.
  • Landrum continued to make an impact on the offensive and defensive end, adding a kill and a block alongside Lindner to give Nova Southeastern a 7-4 lead in the second set.
  • Florida Tech scored three consecutive points, making the score 10-9, before Lindner bookended a 5-0 run for the Sharks.
  • Landrum and Stockman both contributed a pair of points, putting Nova Southeastern in front 21-11.
  • NSU took a 2-0 lead in the match by scoring the final three points and took the frame 25-14 over the Panthers.
  • The Sharks and Florida Tech battled back-and-forth for the entirety of the third set, but FIT took the set win 25-23 over NSU.
  • Lindner put down two consecutive attempts, giving the Sharks a 5-3 lead over Florida Tech.
  • Both teams matched each other point for point, before Kate Mihacevich and Stockman tallied kills to put the Sharks ahead 15-13.
  • FIT rallied for three consecutive points but another kill from Lindner halted the Panthers momentum and tied the set at 16-16.
  • Mihacevich and Stockman were key contributors in the final run for NSU, as each scored a pair of points, sealing the 25-21 fourth set win for the Sharks and the four-set Sunshine State Conference victory.

Head Coach Kacie Ehinger – We had a lot of people really step up in a tight match. Our offense was firing and both of our middles blocked well. It took a full team effort against a feisty Florida Tech team.
