Volleyball Schedule Unveiled

OCA RATON, Fla.  Head coach Fernanda Nelson and the Florida Atlantic University volleyball team has announced the fall 2021 schedule. The team is set to host three tournaments and partake in a Conference USA schedule where the squad will play back-to-back contests against the same opponent within the East division each week.
 
The Owls’ first of three tournaments is the FAU Invite, in which the team will host Stony Brook, North Florida and Wofford. FAU will open up the tournament on Friday, Aug. 27 against Stony Brook (at noon) and UNF (at 7 p.m.), and will wrap up play on Saturday, Aug. 28 vs. Wofford (at noon).
 
FAU’s second tournament will be hosted the following weekend as part of the Paradise Classic. The Owls will square off against Bethune-Cookman on Friday, Sept. 3 at noon and CSU Bakersfield at 7 p.m. The tournament will wrap up with a noon matchup against Stetson on Saturday, Sept. 4.
 
FAU will then hit the road for the Tiger Invitational hosted by Towson University. On Friday, Sept. 10, the Owls are set to play Norfolk State (10 a.m.) and tournament host Towson (6:30 p.m.) and will wrap up play on Saturday, Sept. 11 vs. Lehigh (1:30 p.m.).
 
The final tournament of the 2021 season will be the Sunshine Challenge Cup. Florida schools UCF, Florida Gulf Coast and Miami will all be in attendance at Abessinio Court at FAU Arena. The Owls will host Miami on Thursday, Sept. 16 at 7:30 p.m., and on Saturday, Sept. 17, the squad will wrap up against UCF (11 a.m.) and Florida Gulf Coast (7 p.m.).
 
FAU will play home against Jacksonville (Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 6 p.m.) and at Bethune-Cookman (Saturday, Nov. 9 at 6 p.m.) to finalize the non-conference schedule.
 
For C-USA play, the format consists of back-to-back games, Friday and Saturday, against divisional opponents. All of the Owls’ home matches will be played at 1 p.m. against Old Dominion (Sept. 24 and 25), Marshall (Oct. 8 and 9) and WKU (Oct. 22 and 23). FAU’s road C-USA matches will be played at Charlotte (Oct. 1 and 2), FIU (Oct. 15 and 16) and Middle Tennessee (Oct. 29 and 31). This year’s C-USA Championship is hosted by Old Dominion from Friday, Nov. 19 to Sunday, Nov. 21.
