USF’s Javain Brown Named Third Team Preseason All-America

Brown adds preseason All-America honor to his All-Region and All-Conference accolades from 2019.

TAMPA (September 14, 2020) – University of South Florida men’s soccer standout Javain Brown has been named Preseason Third Team All-America by College Soccer News. Brown is one of just five players from the American Athletics Conference selected to the three teams.

A redshirt sophomore from Kingston, Jamaica, Brown headlines a stingy defensive corps that will be a force when the Bulls hit the pitch this upcoming season. Brown helped to guide USF’s 2019 back line that allowed only 1.26 goals per game on the year, which was tied for third best in The American, and five clean sheets. He also aided the offense with seven points on three goals and an assist.

Brown started in 17 of the 18 games he played in for the Bulls, recording 11 shots with seven coming on goal in 2019. He scored three goals on the season, all game-winners, coming against UConn, FGCU and Cincinnati. In addition, he played 1,548 minutes on the year.

For his efforts last season, he was tabbed a First Team All-American Athletic Conference selection, while also being named to the AAC All-Rookie Team, and was named to the USC All-East Region Second Team.

Brown is the second USF player recognized prior to the upcoming season, joining senior Adrian Billhardt (Berlin, Germany) who was tabbed an honorable mention selection on TopDrawerSoccer.com’s top 10 midfielders in America list.
