Freshman Melanie Green led the Bulls in scoring average and placed fourth at the American Championship.
IRVING, Texas (April 27, 2021) – After a standout freshman campaign, the University of South Florida’s Melanie Green (Medina, N.Y.) has been named to The American All-Conference Team, the league announced on Tuesday.
Green lead the Bulls in scoring average (74.80) in 2021, and her scoring average versus par (+2.80) ranks 10th all-time in program history. Green carded five rounds of par or better during her freshman season.
“We are thrilled for Melanie to earn All-Conference honors as a freshman,” said head coach Erika Brennan. “Her work ethic is strong and she gets so much out of her game when the lights come on. The sky is the limit for her and we are thrilled she’s back to build on such a strong freshman campaign.”
Green recorded a pair of 10-top finishes as a freshman, bookending her season in spectacular fashion.
Green made her debut for USF at the FAU Paradise Invitational where she carded two rounds of 69, and shot a season-best 211 to finish tied for season. Her 36-hole total of 6-under par 138 tied for the third-best all-time by a Bull, and her final 54-hole tally of 5-under-par 211 ranks seventh in program history.
Green capped her season by tying for fourth at the American Women’s Golf Championship with a 4-over-par 220.

USF is among the fastest rising programs in the country, as they climbed 75 spots in the national Golfstat rankings following Brennan’s first season. The Bulls won two tournaments in 2018-19 and set several program records, including season scoring average (293.43) and team rounds of par or better (6). In 2019-20, the Bulls posted a wire-to-wire win at the Old Friends Invitational, marking the program’s third tournament title since spring 2019.
