USF Women Hit the Road for the First Time in AAC Play to Face Tulsa on Sunday

The Bulls look for their third straight win, and their fifth victory in the last seven games.

TAMPA (Jan. 10, 2020) – USF hits the road for just the fourth time this season, and the first time in conference play, as it travels to America’s Heartland to butt heads with Tulsa on Sunday at 6 p.m. ET (CBSSN). The Bulls look for their seventh straight over TU.

The game marks the first of two straight for USF away from the Yuengling Center. The Green and Gold will close out the back-to-back road tilts at Temple on Jan. 16 at 7 p.m.

– In just 10 games, Elena Tsineke has already made her presence felt for the Bulls after being cleared to play by the NCAA … Tsineke missed the first five games of the season after being ruled ineligible by the NCAA … A native of Greece, Tsineke leads the team in scoring, averaging 12.8 points per game … She has scored double figures in eight of the 10 games she has played, career-high 19-point efforts against Florida Gulf Coast on Nov. 29 in the Cancun Challenge and against Cincinnati in The American opener on Jan. 5 … She is shooting 42.0 percent (42-for-100) from the field, including 35.3 percent (18-for-51) from behind the arc, and 86.7 percent (26-for-30) from the free-throw line.

– Bethy Mununga comes into Sunday’s game averaging just shy of a double-double in the 12 games she has played this season … She missed the three games – Idaho, Mississippi State and UNLV – with a hamstring injury … Her 11.3 points per game and 9.7 rebounds per outing are second and first on the team, respectively, and her rebounds per game average is second in The American, through Jan. 9 … She has scored in double figures in eight of the 12 games played, including career-highs of 16 points at Baylor (Nov. 19), against Brown (Dec. 30) and Cincinnati (Jan. 3) … She’s shooting 54.3 percent (57-for-105) from the field on the year.

– Mununga has recorded a double-double in six of the 12 games she has played in … She is third in The American, and 37th in the nation, in double-doubles through Jan. 9 … She has grabbed double-digit rebounds in eight games this season.

– Elisa Pinzan had a season-high 14 points against No. 2/2 Baylor on Nov. 19 on 5-for-14 (32.7 percent) shooting from the field, and 4-of-7 (57.1 percent) from behind the arc … Despite missing the last five games due to an ankle injury, she continues to lead the team in assists per game, dishing out 4.2 per outing.

– Tamara Henshaw, second on the Bulls in rebounding, comes into the game against Tulsa with 803 career rebounds, reaching the 800-rebound plateau with her seven boards against Cincinnati on Jan. 5 … She is now just 20 rebounds shy of joining Nalini Miller (2003-07) in seventh all-time with 823 … Henshaw is averaging 11.2 rebounds per game in her last six outings.

– Henshaw is eighth in The American in total rebounds with 117, and ninth in the AAC in rebounds per game, grabbing 7.8 per outing, through Jan. 9.

SCOUTING TULSA

– Tulsa comes into its game with USF with a 5-10 record following its 64-62 overtime loss at Tulane on Jan. 8 … It was TU’s second-straight overtime setback … The Golden Hurricane dropped their second straight game, and their eighth in their last 10 outings, with their loss to the Green Wave.  

– Tulsa has just one player averaging in double figures in the scoring column, as Kendrian Elliott is netting 16.3 points per game on the year, in addition to her team-high 9.1 rebounds per contest … Addison Richards is second in scoring, averaging 8.1 points per outing.
