Due to weather, USF (32-15, 10-2) and UConn will play a doubleheader on Thursday and a single game on Friday in Storrs, Conn.
TAMPA, APRIL 17, 2019 – After its third straight sweep in conference play, the Bulls head to Storrs, Conn., to take on UConn. Due to weather, the series has been altered to a doubleheader on Thursday starting at 1 p.m., and a single game Friday at Noon.
The Bulls are coming off nine straight conference wins, three straight sweeps. USF opened conference play with a series loss to Tulsa, but has won every American Athletic Conference game since, taking down Houston, ECU and rival UCF. With USF’s most recent sweep, it took the lead in the conference standings.
Top Offense
- USF’s center fielder junior AnaMarie Bruni (Schwenksville, Pa.) was named to The American Honor Roll this week
- Bruni leads The American in hits and ranks 10th in the nation with 59 this season
- Bruni has notched 17 multi-hit games this season and is averaging .391 at the plate
- The Pennsylvania native is 26-for-30 in stolen bases this season
Pitcher of the Week Corrick
- Georgina Corrick (Sanford, Fla.) was named pitcher of the week for the fourth time this season
- She went 2-1 with a 1-hitter loss to No. 6 UF, a 13-inning shutout against UCF and a series finale shutout against UCF
- Corrick has a .96 ERA, .28 in last week’s contests
- Corrick leads the league in five categories, and ranks in the top 35 in all five
- No. 4 in ERA (.96)
- No. 14 in strikeouts (181)
- No. 18 in hits allowed per seven innings (3.93)
- No. 20 in shutouts (6)
- No. 35 in strikeouts per seven innings (8.7)
- She also ranks second in The American in two categories where she also ranksin the top 35 nationally:

- No. 32 in strikeout-to-walk ration (5.17
Scouting the Opponent
UConn (16-24, 4-8)
- The Huskies have two series wins in conference play, against Wichita State and Memphis.
- UConn also has two series losses, sweeps form UCF and Houston.
- Briana Marcelino leads the UConn offense with a .385 average (47-for-122), 33 RBI, eight homeruns, eight doubles, 79 total bases and a .648 slugging percentage.
- Marybeth Olson leads the Huskies’ pitching staff with 10 wins, a 2.04 ERA, 131 strikeouts, five shuts, 10 complete games and 116.2 innings pitched.
