USF Welcomes Memphis for Final Home Series, Senior Day Sunday

USF will take on Memphis for its final home series of the regular season, and senior day on Sunday

TAMPA, APRIL 25, 2019 – League-leading USF (35-15, 13-2) is ready for its final home series this weekend, coming off four straight sweeps in conference play. The Bulls will welcome Memphis for a three-game series Friday through Sunday.

Sophomore pitcher Georgina Corrick (Sanford, Fla.) received two major honors this week including her fifth American Athletic Pitcher of the Week selection, as well as being named a finalist for the USA Softball Player of the Year award. She reached 20 wins and over 200 strikeouts in last week’s sweep against UConn, also picking up a save.

Senior Macy Cook (Uniontown, Ohio) was named to The American Honor Roll after leading the Bulls’ offense last week, batting .300 against the Huskies and recording four RBI. She hit a two-run homerun that made the difference in a 5-3 win over UConn in game two.

It will be an exciting weekend at USF Softball Stadium with Bark with the Bulls at Saturday’s game, and senior day with a special pregame ceremony on Sunday.

Scouting the Opponent

Memphis (22-26, 3-11)

  • Memphis has three conference wins this season, two for the series against ECU and one against UConn.
  • Last season, USF took two out of three against the Tigers in Memphis, and USF leads the series 15-4.
  • Baylee Smith leads the Tigers’ offense with a .358 average this season. She has 49 hits, 10 doubles, three triples and seven homeruns. She has recorded 34 runs and batted in 30.
  • Karli Perque and Mariah Nichols share most of the time in the circle, each with seven wins. Perque has pitched 76.2 innings while Nichols has pitched 126.2. Perque boasts a 3.65 ERA with 71 strikeouts and five complete games. She also has one save. Nichols has a 4.03 ERA with 92 strikeouts, seven complete games and four saves.
