USF WBB: Blasigh Earns Fourth AAC Freshman Of The Week Honor

Tampa, Fla. Jan. 15, 2023 – South Florida women’s basketball freshman guard Vittoria Blasigh has earned American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week honors for the fourth time this season, announced by the league office on Monday.

Blasigh’s career-high 35 points helped South Florida to a 68-52 win against Tulsa on Wednesday and Blasigh’s 35-point night marked the first 35-plus point game by a Bull in nearly five years. (Does not include 40-point games). Against Rice, Blasigh led all scorers with a 26-point performance while knocking down four 3-pointers and 8-of-9 shots at the charity stripe.

The Udine, Italy native is ranked 7th nationally with 53 total 3-pointers made this season and leads all freshmen in the NCAA.

South Florida closes out its Texas swing trip on Tuesday (Jan. 16) night in San Antonio, as the Bulls face UTSA. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET and the game will stream live on ESPN+.

In 2022-23, the Bulls had four players recognized by The American for impressive seasons, including Elena Tsineke (AAC Co-Player of the Year, All-Conference First Team), Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu (AAC Co-Player of the Year, All-Conference First Team), Sammie Puisis (AAC Newcomer of the Year, All-Conference Second Team) and Carla Brito (AAC All-Freshman Team).
