USF VOLLEYBALL: War On I-4 Match to be Played in Yuengling Center

USF and UCF will clash inside the Yuengling Center on Wednesday, October 13.

TAMPA (August 23, 2021) – The University of South Florida volleyball team has announced its annual War On I-4 home match against UCF will be played inside the Yuengling Center. The match is scheduled for Wednesday, October 13 at 7 p.m. in Tampa.

Head coach and USF alum Jolene Shepardson is at the helm of the Bulls for her second season in 2021. Shepardson guided the Bulls to a 6-8 record in the truncated 2020 campaign which was played in the spring during the 2021 calendar year.

UCF is the three-time defending American Athletic Conference champion and was voted the 2021 preseason favorite. USF was tabbed seventh in the preseason coaches’ poll.

USF returns 12 players from last year’s roster, including six starters, and has added seven new Bulls to the 2021 squad.

Marta Cvitkovic (Rijeka, Croatia) was named to the All-AAC First Team as a true freshman last season, and was a unanimous selection to the 2021 Preseason All-Conference Team.

The Bulls open their 2021 campaign this weekend at the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational in Fort Myers on August 27-28. USF will oppose Rutgers, UMBC and FGCU over the weekend.

The Bulls first home match of the season is slated for Friday, September 3 against Miami and USF opens AAC play at home against Cincinnati on Friday, September 24. All home matches will be played in The Corral, with the exception of the UCF game on October 13 in the Yuengling Center.

Head coach Jolene Shepardson enters her second season at the helm of her alma mater in 2021-22. Named head coach on Jan. 8, 2020, Shepardson led the Bulls’ program to its last conference championship and NCAA tournament appearance as a student-athlete in 2002. USF made its last postseason appearance in 2018, posting 20 wins and appearing in the NIVC. USF Volleyball has made seven NCAA Tournament appearances and won 12 conference titles since its inception in 1972 and is entering its 50th campaign in 2021-22.
