USF Travels to FGCU for Weekday Doubleheader

The Bulls are coming off a weekend sweep, including two wins over No. 12 Tennessee

TAMPA, Feb. 25, 2020 – The University of South Florida softball team is set for its first road midweek contests of the year during a trip to Florida Gulf Coast University. The Bulls play a doubleheader Wednesday in Fort Myers, with first pitches scheduled for 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.

South Florida recently wrapped up a four-game sweep at the USF Invitational. The weekend featured USF’s 27th no-hitter, two walk-off wins and a comeback victory. The Bulls started the weekend with a no-hitter in a 7-1 win over FIU on Feb. 21. Georgina Corrick and Vivian Ponn paired for the third combined no-hitter in program history.

The team followed up its no-no with back-to-back walk-off wins over No. 12 Tennessee and FIU. Kyndall Williams (Trenton, Fla.) hit her first collegiate home run, a two-run shot, to push the Bulls to victory over the Lady Vols. Brooke Hartman (Port Orange, Fla.) played the heroine in extra innings over FIU, singling home Natalie Zweig (Tampa, Fla.) to earn the 5-4 victory.

The Bulls wrapped up the weekend with another victory over Tennessee. Corrick earned her fourth win of the tournament and her second shutout, while Tayli Filla (Fort Myers, Fla.) drove home the winning run in the 3-2 triumph.

For their efforts over the weekend, Corrick was named The American Pitcher of the Week and Hartman was selected as a member of the AAC’s Weekly Honor Roll.
