USF Track & Field: Bulls finish with 8 titles at UCF Invitational

USF men shine on Day 2 winning the 4X100, 4X400, triple jump and shot put

ORLANDO, APRIL 24, 2021  The USF track and field team grabbed four more individual titles on Day 2 of the UCF Knights Invitational in Orlando to finish with eight event victories in the meet and several program top 10 marks.

Saturday saw the Bulls men shine, claiming four titles and dominating in the relays. The 4X400-meter relay team of Monte Parker, Stefone Moore-Green, Duncan Agyemang and Toluwani Adebakin took the title in a time of 3:10.07, which ranks fourth in program history. Meanwhile, the 4X100-metter relay team of Danelson Mahautiere, Parker, Dre’Shaun Sanders and Adebakin took the crown in a time of 40.71, the sixth-best in program history.

David Ajam won the triple jump with a leap of 50-5.50, which equaled his season best and the sixth-best mark in program history, while Johann Jeremiah won the shot put with a heave of 54-11.5. Jeremiah also placed second in the discus with a mark of 167-8, the sixth-best in program history.

Ajama also took second in the high jump with a leap of 6-6.25, which marked a season best. Mahautiere took second in the 100 meters in a time of 10.50, a season best, while Dee Jennings placed second in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 13.99, which ranks as the third fastest in program history. Moore-Green also took third in the 400 meters with a time of 47.47, a new season best and good for fifth on the program top 10 list. Agyemang was right behind in fourth place in 47.65, the ninth-best mark in program history.

For the women, Shaneylix Davila equaled the school record in the 100-meter hurdles, running 13.24 to finish second. Teammate Jae’Nisa Heckstall was just behind in fourth in 13.48, the fourth-best time in program history.

Arielle Boone finished fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 39-10, which was a personal best and ranks 10th all-time in program history. Alliya Booth finished seventh in the discus with a throw of 126-10.

On Friday, USF got off to a strong start with three women and a man claiming crowns, including both men’s and women’s champions in the pole vault.

Freshman Shaniya Benjamin continued her strong first season winning the long jump with a personal-best mark of 20-3 which ranks fourth on the USF all-time list.

In the 400-meter hurdles, Heckstall won the event with a personal-best 57.52, a time that ranks second all-time in program history and approaching the record mark of 57.03 set by Amber Delpino in 2000. Heckstall now owns the top time in the American Athletic Conference and the ninth-best time in the nation. Davila finished fourth with a PR of 58.91, which ranks third all-time USF.

In the men’s pole vault, junior Stone Baker equaled his season-best with a mark of 16-7.25 to take the title. Meanwhile, on the women’s side senior Stephanie Lambeth posted a mark of 12-11.75 to win the event and lead four Bulls who placed in the top six, including Nicole Carroll who was third with a season-best of 12-0.

The Bulls have one more regular season meet before hosting the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which will be hosted at the USF Track & Field Stadium in Tampa, May 14-16.
