TAMPA, FLA.
March 11, 2021 – The University of South Florida softball team will host the USA Softball Women’s National Team, which will represent the United States at the Tokyo Olympics, for a three-game series starting on Friday, March 11 at 6 p.m. Game two will be on Saturday at 1 p.m. and the final game will be on Sunday at 3 p.m.

Due to virus mitigation measures and the size of the venue, fan attendance for the series will be via team pass list only at USF Softball Stadium.

USF is coming off a doubleheader sweep against the New Mexico State Aggies on Wednesday. The Bulls won game one 4-3 off runs from Bethaney Keen (Bradenton, Fla.), Alanah Rivera (St. Petersburg, Fla.), Josie Foreman (West Palm Beach, Fla.) and Natalie Zweig (Tampa, Fla.). USF also took the victory in a marathon game two, taking the game 4-3 in 12 innings. Keen walked the Bulls off with a single to left which scored Brooke Leistl (Valrico, Fla.). Georgina Corrick (Sanford, Fla.) earned the win in both games, tossing 31 strikeouts in 14.1 innings pitched.

The USWNT is hosting a pre-Olympics training camp in Clearwater, Fla. in advance of the Tokyo Olympics this summer. Led by USF head coach Ken Eriksen, the national team just finished a three-game series sweep against the No. 5 ranked Team Mexico. The team is without Rachel Garcia, Dejah Mulipola and Bubba Nickles as well as assistant coaches Laura Berg, Howard Dobson, Tairia Flowers and Heather Tarr who all remain with their respective collegiate teams. Joining Eriksen to assist with coaching USA will be former USF assistant Laura Ricciardone, Kyla Holas and two-time Olympian Kelly Kretschman. Former USF director of tournaments and operations Valerie Arioto remains with the team as well.

The two teams previously met in the opening game of the 2020 Stand Beside Her Tour. The 2020 Bulls proved to be strong competitors against the Olympic squad in the 3-0 victory for the Red, White and Blue. USF limited Team USA to just five hits in the game.

All three games of the series will be broadcast on ESPN+.
