USF Softball Sweeps Final Conference Weekly Awards

Corrick was named AAC Pitcher of the Week for the ninth time this season, while Epperson earned Player of the Week honors


TAMPA, May 9, 2022 – University of South Florida softball student-athletes Georgina Corrick and Madison Epperson were honored with the final American Athletic Conference weekly awards of the season. Corrick (Sanford, Fla.) earned her ninth Pitcher of the Week honors while Epperson (Tampa, Fla.) secured her first career Player of the Week honors.

The Bulls completed a second consecutive conference sweep last weekend, earning a trio of wins over Memphis. The Bulls opened with two straight run-rule victories, 13-1 and 9-1, before winning the regular-season finale, 3-0. The series marked USF’s third conference sweep of the season, tallying nine wins combined against ECU, Houston and Memphis.

Epperson finished the weekend sweep five-for-eight at the plate. She recorded the game-winning RBI in game one and added an additional three over the weekend. In total, she finished with a double, a home run, a run and four RBI.

Corrick (Sanford, Fla.) earned the complete-game victory in all of USF’s game, going 3-0 over the weekend. Posting a 0.41 ERA, she only allowed one earned run all weekend while tallying 37 strikeouts. In game one, she struck out the batter for all 15 outs, then retired 12 of the 15 outs in game two via strikeouts.

The Bulls open play in the American Athletic Conference tournament on Thursday, playing host and six-seed East Carolina at 5 p.m. on May 12.
