USF SOFTBALL: Corrick Named USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Top 3 Finalist

Corrick earns USF’s first top-three finalist spot; winner named prior to Women’s College World Series

TAMPA, May 18, 2022 – University of South Florida senior pitcher Georgina Corrick (Sanford, Fla.) is one of three finalists for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award, the organization announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Considered the most prestigious individual honor in Division I college softball, the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award recognizes outstanding athletic achievement by Division I female softball players across the country and will honor its 20th athlete at the conclusion of the 2022 NCAA Division I softball season. Corrick is one of three finalists, joining Oklahoma utility player Jocelyn Alo and Washington infielder Baylee Klingler. Alo is the reigning USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year.

Corrick, who leads the country in innings pitched (266.1), shutouts (20), strikeouts (407) strikeout-to-walk ratio (13.13) and victories (36), also ranks in the top 10 in ERA (third, 0.53), hits allowed per seven innings (third, 2.89) and walks allowed per seven innings (eighth, 0.81).

The two-time NFCA All-American has reached new heights in her final year of eligibility. At one point during the season, Corrick’s ERA was as low as 0.06 in 118 innings pitched and she had a perfect 18-0 record. Her early-season streak of 88.1 consecutive scoreless innings in the circle was the seventh longest streak in NCAA history.
